My introduction to the American biker culture was through a project photographing at the funerals of American soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. At the height of those wars an association of motor cyclists (the Patroit Guard Riders) were attending these funerals to honor and show respect and support to the fallen heroes. Most of these motor cyclist were Vietnam Veterans.
This current "Biker Culture", was originally glorified in the 1950's with the movie "The Wild One" - Marlon Brando and later with "Easy Rider" - Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper, and continues today with iconic American symbols of freedom and life style.
This project has been on going for many years are and is a part of my interest in documenting under celebrated aspects of the American culture.
