TODAYS FEATURED PHOTOGRAPH
“Photograph the world as it is, nothing is more interesting than reality”. - Mary Ellen Mark Eric Smith comes from an extensive fine art and commercial photography background. Returning to my roots in documentary photography and making images that question the indefinite relationship between reality and perception. Ambiguity isn’t a flaw, it’s often the point. A compelling image is one which reveals something unexpected, even if the material is truly mundane. I try to photograph the questions and not the answers and make images of what is in between, images that have a before and imply an after. My goal is to find my self in the photographs I make and understand what my feelings looks like. If my pictures don’t present more than the obvious, I have failed to communicate.
